In a world full of opportunities, recognition of prior learning and procuring certification is a matter of utmost priority. Recognition of acquired skills is the only way out to keep up with a fast growing world of careers. Millions of people of our country both unskilled and skilled in various trades, seek to build proficiency in order to upgrade and validate their existing skills. Many of them refrain from efforts to join conventional education systems because of reasons like its cost, time constrains, accessibility, lack of flexibility etc. This is where the role of education systems as RPL [Recognition for Prior Learning] programs and concept of skill test centres come into play. The educational entry requirements and long duration of courses of the formal training system are some of the impediments for a person of low educational attainment to acquire skills for his livelihood.
The main objective of the scheme is to provide valid certifications to the existing workers as a proof of validation of their acquired skills . In order to standardise the competencies of the unskilled or semi-skilled work force, individuals with prior learning experience or skills who are unable to attend he regular classes will be assessed and certified under this scheme. By establishing CCEK - RPL Skill centres throughout the state, the beneficiaries will be able to attend the skill tests prescribed by CCEK to acquire recognitions for their acquired skill sets and would help them to procure their career goals successfully.
CCEK envisages to implement the RPL programme in the following three levels
